A podcast about Comics Pop Culture!

Hello FITWR listeners, Republic City Dispatch fanatics and Storm of Spoilers/Cast of Kings fantasy nerds, we’re back for more comics discussion!

New comics enthusiast Joanna Robinson of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood and The Station Agents podcast is joined by a Spider-Man fan,  Da7e Gonzales of Geek.com and  Latino-Review.com

No matter your level of engagement, if you’re interested in comic books and their surrounding pop culture, this show’s for you!

SPOILER WARNING  – DO NOT START THIS EPISODE UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN OR ARE OKAY WITH PLOT DETAILS ABOUT CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

THIS WEEK: Joanna and Da7e are back, and now Joanna has seen the third Captain America movie. Before delving into a lengthy evaluation of the movie and the Sokovia Accords (Jo is #TeamCap, Da7e is #TeamIronMan), the duo stop to appreciate that Kevin Smith directed a kick-ass Zack Stentz-written episode of CW’s The Flash called “The Runaway Dinosaur.” After that, it’s all Civil War discussion, baby, yeah.

Plus, David is a Fanboy about Radiohead

This week, Katey, Patches, Da7e and David hear you: That Captain America: Civil War review last Friday was divisive. Our comments and Twitters felt the force of Civil War fans who felt David and Patches went too hard on the film, so this week as a way of using that to further discussion, David talks about Radiohead’s new album Moon Shaped Pool helped him understand Marvel fandom, then Katey and Da7e get a whole segment to respond to Friday’s review and the comments left on FightingInTheWarRoom.com. Then, Jodie Foster’s Money Monster is coming out this week with Julia Roberts and George Clooney as the stars, but it doesn’t seem like those names hold the sway they used to. Is Money Monster a relic of an older form of star power?

THIS WEEK: Joanna and Da7e are back, although there isn’t a ton of comic book news discussed outside of this year’s Eisner Award Nominations. Otherwise, Da7e has seen Captain America: Civil War and Joanna hasn’t so there’s a spoiler-free prep section (spoiler free in the sense that you should know Black Panther and Spider-Man are in this movie already). Then, recent Doctor Strange and Iron Fist developments has the duo revisiting how actors of Asian descent are getting the shaft. Finally, a quick jaunt through The Flash (Zoom!), iZombie (Joanna loves it!) and Agent Carter season 2 (Da7e caught up)! Oh, and The Killing Joke comes up again because WB released the trailer for the R-Rated animated Batman film.
