Plus: Oscar Reactions and BOOOOOOKS

This week, Katey, Da7e and Patches are down a David, so we’ll never know just how pleased he was when Birdman took home the Best Picture Oscars. Patches and Katey have some words for the NPH-hosted telecast, then a mini-segment where we semi-annually talk about stuff we’re reading (usually when movie season runs thin) and FINALLY a discussion of the now-ended sitcom Parks and Recreation.

We promise not to play “Bye Bye Little Sebastian”

Should the Oscars Be in January?

This week, Katey, Da7e, and Patches are subject to a brisk Ehrlich discussion about Sundance and what it all means. first, a tidbit about the festival and it’s changing perception. Is the old promise of Sundance preserved in virtual reality filmmaking and Sundance Next? Then, a brief interlude to discuss if the Oscars should be in January, because David can’t believe we’re talking about stuff like American Sniper still after Sundance. Then, David saw Jupiter Ascending at Sundance, and he can’t review it, but wants to talk about how original science fiction films might be doomed.

Review: Celebrating The McConaughssiance In Dallas Buyers Club
| 19. November, 2013

This week we’re packing our trunks full of illegal prescription drugs and crossing the U.S.-Mexico border as we join the Dallas Buyers Club, which was both a real group that got HIV-treatment drugs from Mexico and also a new movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner. To join us we’ve brought in Nathaniel Rogers of The Film Experience, and because he’s with us and David isn’t, we even get to indulge in a little Oscar season talk. Nobody tell David!
