Superman, Making Your Own Short Film and Comparing Movies That Are Linked Thematically or by Release Date.

This week, Da7e, David, Patches and Katey are back with the first FITWR of 2014. Da7e and Patches both read Glen Weldon’s Superman: The Unauthorized Biography and learned a ton of facts about The Man of Steel (though not the movie, Man of Steel). But what’s the book’s greater purpose and would you enjoy it? Our FAVORITE listener voicemail EVER finds us giving advice on making a short film, then spend a justifiably long (and spoiler light, if not spoiler free) time discussing the validity of comparing American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street so closely.

Take a listen, embed and/or download below; for more from all of us on Twitter: the show (@FITWR) Da7e (@da7e), David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner), Patches (@misterpatches) and Katey (@kateyrich).

We also welcome your feedback, and there are lots of new places you can find us! Find us and like us at our Facebook page or call and leave us a voicemail at (914) 410-6450– if we like it, we may play it on an upcoming show.

REVIEW – Supercalifragilalcoholism With Saving Mr. Banks

Plus: a bonus rant from David about how the Keanu Reeves vehicle 47 Ronin is the second-worst thing to happen to Japan this decade.

Who better to make an film that takes an honest look at a tricky period in the history of Walt Disney and the studio he founded? Why, Walt Disney Pictures, of course! Except that Saving Mr. Banks actually glosses over a ton of issues in the adaptation of Mary Poppins, and does wrong by Emma Thompson in the process. Listen as Katey, David, and Patches tear into everything that drove them crazy about this supposedly feel-good holiday offering from the house that Mickey built.

With Special Guest Matt Singer!

Is it his best or his best interpretation of Goodfellas? Let’s all find out together on this week’s holiday review episode.

Take a listen, embed and/or download below; for more from all of us: follow the show (@FITWR), David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner), Patches (@misterpatches) and Katey (@kateyrich) on Twitter.
