A podcast about Comics Pop Culture!

Hello FITWR listeners, Republic City Dispatch fanatics and Storm of Spoilers/Cast of Kings fantasy nerds, we’re back for more comics discussion!

New comics enthusiast Joanna Robinson of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood and The Station Agents podcast is joined by a guy who always buys his new illegal guns off Turk,  Da7e Gonzales of Geek.com and  Latino-Review.com

No matter your level of engagement, if you’re interested in comic books and their surrounding pop culture, this show’s for you!

THIS WEEK: He of Film School Rejects and Storm of Spoilers co-host –  Neil Miller joins Da7e and Joanna to discuss Daredevil‘s second 13-episode season on Netflix. At the time we recorded this episode, we were about 24 hours from the whole season being released, so we’ve only seen 7 of the 13 total episodes of season two. FIRST, Joanna wants to know how psyched Da7e was about seeing a MCU Spider-Man in the trailer for Captain America: Civil War, then the rest of the episode is all about Daredevil Season 2!

Then, Neil and Joanna are fresh back from SXSW (some had to travel more than others) and have seen the first episode of AMC’s Preacher. They report back and…things are good!

The first section of the podcast talks about the new characters played by Jon Bernthal and Elodie Yung. Yes, this show delivers versions of The Punisher and Elektra that are unique to the Marvel Studios world and might be working much better than they ever did at other studios. Then, in a spoiler section, Da7e goes way out there with Daredevil lore and stuff we didn’t get to see (like what’s in those last 6 episodes?!?!?!). All the comic-book Daredevil talk (like speculation on The Hand) is all in the second section.

SPOILERS START AT 40 minutes 36 seconds, and they’ll take a beating until you break your hands.

Back to the bunker.

This week, Da7e and Patches both saw Zootopia and Da7e’s crazy animation brain got spinning on anthropomorphized animals by Disney and how being “on style” can help and hurt in 3D animation. Them, Katey’s pretty sure there’s a Divergent movie coming out an no one cares, should we care? Finally a follow up segment on the success of 10 Cloverfield Lane. There are SPOILERS, because we’re assuming you’ve seen it. Patches thinks he’s found Clover. Sheesh.

Monsters come in many forms. One of those is man.

This week, Patches, Katey, and David wake up in a bunker and are told that a second Cloverfield movie exists. This time, it’s not a found footage movie about a giant monster from the ocean but a three-handed thriller between John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr.
Maybe you don’t want to know anything else. In which case, there’s a good 15 minutes of Review for you here. If you’ve seen the movie or are ready to know the secrets – SPOILER GONG at 16:32

110 – Knight of Cups, The People Vs. OJ Simpson and another thing, but it isn’t set in L.A., so who cares?

The other thing is Venom.

This week, Patches and David kick things off with a review of Terrence Malik’s newest, Knight of Cups, because there wasn’t a review episode last Friday (Patches was stuck on a train). Then, Katey asks Da7e what’s up with Sony annoucing that they’ve rebooted the solo Venom movie, because she’s pretty sure Deadpool is involved. Then, most everyone is caught up on American Crime Story: The People Vs. OJ Simpson, except David who refuses to watch it, so the other hosts tell him why he’s wrong for Segment 3.
