150 – Movies that Represent What We Want for America
Episodes | | 7. February, 2017

flag

It's only as political as it needs to be.

It's our sixth Quell as Fighting in The War Room! After polling listeners for Quarter Quell topics, the crew ends up selecting a winner, then tweakign the wording a bit. What they're left with is a prompt to bring movies that represent what they want to see in America. Da7e brings Mr. Smith Goes To Washington for basically the reasons you'd assume, Katey looks back to Juno and a suburbia full of characters, Patches justifies why he selected Michael Haneke's Caché, and David picks a full-length dance movie with Girl Walk All Day.

Welcome to another off season tour episode of A STORM OF SPOILERS!

This week, in a rambling Storm of Spoilers – Nothing good can come form discussing this Series of Unfortunate Events…from over 13 books to eight hours of a adaptation, the poor Baudelaire children are unquestionably doomed. All three hosts watched the series and Joanna and Da7e bring various degrees of geekery to Neil's concept of Netflix's newest.

This week, Patches left both his computer charger and David at Sundance, so he calls in to Da7e and Katey to report on some of his favorite highlights from the most recent (very snowy) Sundance Film Festival! Then, Katey and Da7e discover they both love the Kindle iPhone app for very specific reasons and the show almost becomes an ad before Katey uses last weekend's SAG Awards to discuss how this awards season, politics may be unavoidable.

A GAME OF THRONES PODCAST THAT IS TALKING ABOUT OTHER GREAT POP CULTURE DURING THE OFF SEASON

With Joanna Robinson from Vanity Fair, Dave Gonzales, and Neil Miller from Film School Rejects!

Welcome to another off season tour episode of A STORM OF SPOILERS!

This week, Neil is phoning in from Park City Utah, so we dedicate the usual Game of Thrones News Segment to Sundance news so Neil can address the Netflix invasion, a couple of good rom-com movies, and a non-spoiler discussion of Get Out. Then, Dave and Joanna loop back around to the comic book movie news and television stuff they've missed. Most importantly, Joanna tries to describe FX's new X-series Legion and how it both does and doesn't have mutants. Then, right at the end in a tangent, Dave talks about the very end of Split and doesn't think it's a big deal because the movie is already out, but he spoils Joanna.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED FOR SPLIT – Skip to the Outro (01:02:52) once you hear the WARNING around 58 MINUTES IN
