I wanted to add my own two cents about the color yellow. I don’t know if you’re all familiar with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby. It’s set in the Roaring ’20s, and yellow is a recurring symbol that represents moral decay and the corruption that is so prevalent in the city. Having Butaka and Lightning Bolt Zolt wear yellow is an awesome allusion to that great piece of literature, and we’ll probably see more of that color of corruption throughout the series."},"content":{"rendered":"

They better still be making people read that in school. Because when Korra is standing on Air Temple Island watching Tenzen stretch his arms out towards the distant green light…<\/p>\n

I’m not sure about this Yellow theory because Yellow is usually the colour for the Air Nomads.\u00a0 To that point, I’ve found it interesting that several citizens of Republic City appear to be in Air Nomad clothing.\u00a0 However, given that the Air Nomads were nearly wiped out, their traditional colour might very well become symbolic for those against bending.<\/span><\/p>\n

As far as overall colour palette goes, the golden wash hearkens back to this 1920s “Golden Age” feel.\u00a0 It reminds me of the opening sequence to The Incredibles.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I think the only safe thing we can say here is: When yellow is used it’s on purpose.\u00a0<\/p>\n
