“As far as the idea that Korra is not the avatar. I do not think the show creators would flat out lie to everyone. When introducing the show, they said that it followed the new avatar, Korra. I do not think they would have called her the avatar if that were not the case. Also, I can’t believe that she would be the only person to be able to bend multiple elements without being the avatar. Unrelated, I like the idea that Asami is related to Amon in some way. The dynamic kind of the reverse of Zuko.”

Here’s a snapshot of Benjamin Kaltenecker, our production manager and resident Mongoose bike enthusiast, in his office. The cardboard Mako cutout on his wall was drawn by Ryu and painted with glow-in-the-dark paints by the crew as part of the Halloween decorations in the Korra area.
I hope you guys enjoy/are enjoying/enjoyed watching episode 104 today. You get to meet some new, vital characters! Joaquim, Ryu, Mike, and I contributed a lot of storyboards to that one. It has a moody, psychological vibe that we all enjoy––not your typical “kids” fare.

Hiroshi Sato (Male, non-bender)
A barrel-chested businessman with a big personality, Hiroshi Sato’s family lineage extends back to the first Fire Nation colonists. He was born to a poor family from the Dragon Flats district. A kid with big dreams, Hiroshi worked from a very young age to help support his family. When he was 18, he convinced a wealthy banker to invest in the idea of automobiles for the common man. Before long, he was churning out Satomobiles in his first Future Industries factory. By the time he was 25, the ingenious industrialist had made his first million yuans.
Asami Sato (Female, non-bender)
As the daughter of Hiroshi Sato, Asami has lived a life of luxury but don’t let her fancy clothes and polite manners fool you – Asami has a tough side too. She’s an expert driver and isn’t afraid to mix it up on the racetrack. Asami has also had the best self-defense training money can buy. She’s a big fan of Pro-bending and goes to every match.
This is exactly how I felt discovering the shippers and crack shippers over the past week.

This was the closest we’ll get to an official comment about the Korra Episode 4 leak from Series co-creator Bryan Konietzko. He put it on his Tumblr.

Press Release: 4.5 MILLION STRONG For Korra’s Premiere!

NEW YORK–April 17, 2012–Nickelodeon’s highly anticipated premiere of The Legend of Korra (Saturday, April 14, 11a.m. ET/PT), scored a strong 4.5 million total viewers,ranking as basic cable’s number-one kids’ show and top animated program for the week with total viewers. The series, which continues the mythology of the beloved animated franchise Avatar: The Last Airbender, also posted double and triple-digit increases across all kid and tween demos, averaging a 5.7/1.2 million K6-11 (+36%), 6.3/1.3 million T9-14 (+125%) and 5.5/1.9 million K2-11 (+17%).
This past February, Nickelodeon created “Korra Nation,” an online program for The Legend of Korra superfans clamoring for details and new fans just discovering the property. There was a 750% increase in daily social chatter over the first seven weeks since launch, and the series peaked at 2.2 million mentions on March 24, earning more chatter than the season premiere of Mad Men, according to SocialRadar. The first episode of the series was featured on iTunes, Xbox, Playstation, Amazon, VOD and Vudu in advance of its on-air premiere, and was downloaded and streamed more than 500,000 times. The Legend of Korra has been the number-one kids’ TV season for the past 10 days, and has been in the top ten TV season list on all of iTunes.
