Nice Catch, Nick!

Semi-Interesting story:

I’ve bought a Season Pass on iTunes for The Legend of Korra Book 2 so I can rewatch a few scenes right before the podcast and/or drag through the episode in case I need visual reference while we’re talking.

My girlfriend – also a Korra fan – was living with me for a few days before she moved to Los Angeles (she moved, not me, I am totally the Mako in this situation for better or worse). I had to wake up and podcast for ‘Civil Wars, Part 1" the day she flew out, so that morning I downloaded the episode as soon as possible so we could watch our last episode together for awhile (or at least until she learns Airbending and can come back to Republic City).

As we were watching it, I realized the audio sync was off and the dialogue was somewhere between a half and full second delayed to the animation. It was GROSS, but we watched it, because it was Korra and it was the last Korra we’d be in the same state for.

image

Last week I scrolled through it again just to see if it was an issue with my iPad, but – nope – total sync error.

I wrote iTunes letting them know, but also allowing that it might have been a user-side error.

So imagine my surprise when I woke up to this e-mail from iTunes this morning:

Dear iTunes Customer,

Thank you for downloading the TV show “Civil Wars, Pt. 1” from The Legend of Korra, Book 2: Spirits. The item you received may have had some noticeable quality issues. We have corrected the problem and a new copy is available to download, free of charge. To receive the new version, please re-download the title from iTunes.

Before downloading the new version, remove the current version:

4) Click Delete TV show and then click Move to Trash.

For information on how to download the new copy, go to [URL redacted by RCD]

iTunes Support Team

Nice catch, me! Or, iTunes overall. But I’m totally giving credit to myself for seeing something and saying something.

Season pass holders: you finally get the good version of Civil Wars, Part 1 today. Yip Yip!

Is it true Legend of Korra is moving to Nicktoons network?

No! I have confirmed with Nickelodeon that the episodes scheduled at Nicktoons are all reruns. Episodes will continue to premiere on Nickelodeon at the regularly scheduled times.

Keep cool, folks. Nick still loves its Korra.

– Patches

Is Varrick a Triad?

Thanks to ikkinthekitsune for pointing the below (italics) out from Varrick’s Enhanced Experience character bio.

Is it too early to think how the current storylines lead back to Republic City?

-Da7e-

Varrick:

  • Millionaire shipping magnate from the Southern Water Tribe. He’s a little eccentric, but very charismatic. He spends most of his time traveling the world on his monster yacht and living a fabulous lifestyle. Born a poor seal-hunter’s son, he built his business from a single canoe into a global power. A consummate dealmaker, he’s always looking for angles to expand his business empire. He is currently making a deal with Asami to become Future Industries’ shipping partner. There are rumors that he deals with underworld characters and gangsters if he thinks it will turn a profit, but that has not been verified. (Enhanced Experience)

CIVIL WARS PART 1 TALKBACK!

LET’S CHAT!

image

Are Airbenders terrible fathers?

Does the Northern Water Tribe have defensible positions for occupation?

Did the lack of Asami and Mako’s frankness debase the romantic plots?

The choices of parents and the needs of the children collide! Non-lethal bending from Korra is beautiful!

Tomorrow it’s Da7e that has a wedding to attend, but before he takes off to bend himself into a suit, Republic City Dispatch’s original line-up returns to talk the current state of The Water Tribe, tremors in the Spirit World and the past sending consequences into the future.

REPUBLIC CITY DISPATCH #17: Book 2 Preview/World Building

AVATAR KORRA, by Nikki.

BOOK TWO: SPIRITS STARTS HERE!

Hello again benders and non-benders! We thought we’d drop in on you a week before the Korra Book 2 Premiere to discuss the preview of SPIRITS, the music of Korra and discuss the positives and negatives of world-building outside of the series (Discussion of Republic City Hustle and The Search comics Parts 1 & 2!). All that, plus Patches learns how to say “anime” properly.

This episode contains the recording of our interview with the Track Team’s Jeremy Zuckerman for /Film’s FilmAid pocastathon!

First look footage of The Legend of Korra: Book 2.

Nickelodeon’s abrasive graphics and muzac don’t really set the tone here — but I like what I see. While it doesn’t have the majesty and unexpected elegance of Book 1’s Republic City setting, Book 2 promises a Miyazaki-style fantasy arc. Maybe that’s why it looks a bit more “cartoony” than Book 1. The spirit animals are bubbly and the backgrounds play to that aesthetic over the hyper-detail of RC. I’m glad their taking risks rather than replicating what worked in the first season. – Patches

What do you think?

Korra’s Coming Back MAY 12th 2013 for Book 2, RIGHT?

Noooope.

I did my due diligence today scouring the web to try and find this “official” Netflix/Nickelodeon confirmation/leak.

Sadly, it looks like some stray listings for Book One: Air in Ireland and the UK sent people into a tizzy because it also aligned with a random fan prediction of “May 12th” made in December on a Wika message board.

Plus the NICK message boards fanned the flame with many, many panicked animated emoticons HERE.

So let’s relax, we’re probably still getting the Book One DVD first.

I’ve been asked by Devindra to tell you that we are going to upload the /Filmcast Benefit we all did with Jeremy Zuckerman, talking about the scoring for Avatar, Korra and Book 2. We’re going to throw it in the RCD Feed, once we get ourselves back on iTunes and edit the episode, etc.

Until then, you can always chill with me at AvatarPatel’s YouTube page where he uploads the best in Korra video content…unofficial Korra video content. : )

Legend of Korra Season 2 Arriving in Fall 2013

That’s what Nickelodeon bigwig press releases suggests. Here’s the quote that was attached to Nick’s upfront:

For the 2013-14 season, the network will also roll out new episodes of returning hit animated series, including season two of The Legend of Korra, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, Winx Club, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Robot and Monster.”

I need to go unlock a Chakra that will allow me to be at peace with this news. – Patches

REPUBLIC CITY DISPATCH #13: ABOUT THAT COMIC CON PANEL…

Legend of Korra : Team Avatar by `lone-momo

NEW BONUS PODCAST EPISODE!

In this very special non-episode based Dispatch, Matt and Da7e re-trace the Legend of Korra 2012 San Diego Comic Con panel and discuss what this means for Books One, Two, Three and Four!

Miss the panel? TONS of it is online in video form, officially, HERE.

If you don’t want to be SPOILED at all for Book Two, I don’t know what to tell you. Everything that was in the panel is in play here as well as the entire first season of The Legend of Korra.

Which ended up being surprisingly similar to The Dark Knight Rises.

Hosted by Devindra Hardawar of the /Filmcast and Da7e and Matt Patches of Operation Kino.

Korra! Panel! Comic Con!

Da7e and Patches are on site!

Da7e is live-blogging it HERE!.

Yes, Korra Is Getting Books 3 & 4

Hey, I’ve been at Comic Con. But this is true and I imagine it will be one of the first things we hear on the panel Friday (BTW – I’m (Da7e) is going to be live-blogging that panel at CINEMABLEND.COM – I’ll link you)

The word has come from an Entertainment Weekly exclusive:

Nickelodeon has picked up a second season of the animated adventure seriesThe Legend of Korra, EW has learned. After averaging 3.8 million viewers for Season 1, Book 1, which concluded June 23, the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel received an order for 26 more episodes (which presumably will be divided into two parts called Books 3 and 4.)

The show is already set to return in 2013 with the premiere of Season 1, Book 2 (which consists of 14 episodes, finishing off the original 26-episode order)

We hadn’t heard that Book 1 and Book 2 were a 26 episode series split into two “books” because it was initially just the shorter mini-series.

BUT – this does mean there are 12 episodes of Korra down and THERE ARE STILL 40 episodes to go!

Great news for Korra fans…

… So I guess the podcast just got picked up for 3 more years? Who wants to grow old together? Am I going to name my first child after an Avatar character or a Korra character?
