We take this moment to congradulate Patches on his newfound Tumblr GIF fame.

Good job, internet.

Um. What. Here’s the link to the interview!

inlinewiththesky:

Guys, what did I just make? Like seriously.

I finally made a contribution to the LoK Fandom! It took forever too.

I had like so much inspiration for this and like tons of ideas, and this is what happened. I know people did this before, but oh well, this is my take on it.

(language warning)

Darn right we include Pabu.

buccillustrations:

Team Avatar 2.0. June 2012. Pen & Ink, Photoshop CS5

Brilliant and uncredited. BUT BRILLIANT.

Just in case anyone forgot where we left off, love-wise.

Great!

Except isn’t the one on the middle left Sokka’s “Water Tribe.” Why is your Amon repping the Water Tribe? Do you know something we don’t?  : )

deathforamau5:

So during the whole Animenext weekend I tagged along with Legend of Korra’s mysterious cast out of the whole series. This is the end result.

So much last minute planning & editing & work went into these(mostly because I don’t do this alot). I really hope you’ll get a laugh out of these gifs. <3

Amon: Vee

Korra: Kyosha

Cameo appearances…

Lazy Homestuck Cosplayer: Ariel

Ice Queen: Andrea

Wait. What? I mean, of course, but what?

kyotosummer:

Legend of Korra: Sailor Doll Maker

This is the kind of stuff I look at on Tumblr weeks we have a Pabu-less episode. COME BACK PABU!

randomstuffndoodles:

This has always been a headcanon of mine since I started watching Korra— though if Bolin had Pabu from when he was a kid, I think Pabu would be pretty old now and he doesn’t seem like it XD

This is now the spiritual partner to the “Hey Mako” guy.

itsjubeesss:

look how happy this guy is

i mean i would be happy too but his face

verybestofem:

Lin Beifong has left the police force to pursue justice outside the law. Now that she’s gone rogue, her life is even more badass than before…

We’re starting catchphrases!

Will you guys be discussing/mentioning the Promise part II on the show or here on your blog at all?

I JUST got it. Like, today. Not for lack of trying, but it seems like everyone wanted it and it wasn’t on the Dark Horse digital app.

Full discussion of The Promise is one of the things we’re debating about bringing y’all during the off season.

Of course, a lot of that depends on how long the off-season is.

Until then, I’ll certainly be bringing it up if it’s relevant (Part II confirms that Aang’s air scooter was his invention that counted toward his tattoos and goes into the connection of metal bending to emotions), but I’m not sure if there will be anything Promise-centric in discussion of the last 3 episodes.

-Da7e-

Do you think that Tarrlok and Amon could be brothers or related in some way?

Possibly. I don’t know what we’d gain from that reveal. They were in the same room fighting each other, you think they’d recognize one another at some point.

So we’re all just assuming Amon’s fire bender story is false now?

-Da7e-

Hey guys! A little feedback on your comments about the limitations the show when it comes to death. I think Korra really steps up creatively by using imprisonment or taking bending away to signal that a character is going to be seen less. Plus with the violence restrictions, characters can come back easily. It’s like when a low budget movie makes up for it with good, thought out writing and becomes a cult classic. The “kid’s show” limitations make Korra creative and unique! Love your podcast! -A

Thanks for the support!

The closer we get to the end of the season, the less likely a character death looks. But – dang! – so many people are getting their bending taken away. At some point while discussing this earlier I had mentioned that the removal of bending is being treated like death in this series.

That being said, I wonder if Mako/Bolin getting stripped is powerful enough or if they’re willing to go for the gut-punch and take away Korra’s bending.

If the Avatar can’t bend, they’re still technically The Avatar, right? Since it all has to do with re-incaration?

-Da7e-

What are your theories of what the final episodes plot will be from the promos?

I’m sure we’ll get to this on next week’s podcast, when we are supposed to. : )

-Da7e-

The only time Tarrlock’s blood-bending was even a little effective against Amon was when Amon walked through the moonlight coming in from the window. Thoughts?

I’m sorry I missed that. That’s my thought. It sounds relevant, but it also sounds like a brillant art directing choice from a lighting angle, so it might not be plot centric. But it could be.

The closer we get to the end, the less certain I feel about a bunch of my feelings about where these answers will come from.

-Da7e-

Non-canonical, but great. Thanks cosplay, you make everything happen.

While trying to come up with a Mako outfit, I have discovered that asymmetrical shoulder-button coats with collars and tails do not exist.

Hmmmmmm. At least my eyebrows are ready to go.

Ty Lee does not approve. >:/

(I’m Ty Lee, Amon is that guy I’m dating. XD)

What if when Amon tries to take away Korra’s bending, all he does is unlock her ability to Airbend or put her into the Avatar State?

I think you are not far off from what we’l see, realisitically.

Although me, Da7e, also thinks that it would be interesting to end the season with Korra bend-less. If the next book really is “Spirit” like we’ve been theorizing, I wouldn’t mind Korra to have to go on a spirit-world-hopping journey to re-claim her bending and title as the Avatar.

But that’s a lot of theory that I have nothing to base that on. It think it’s more likely we get what you’re talking about.

I don’t know when they told the Korra team there would be a second season and I don’t know how that extension changed the ending of what was to be the original mini-series. For instance, if the ending didn’t change with the annoucement, there’s no way that my theory is happening. If they realized they’d have a whole ‘nother Book to discuss some stuff they thought up here, the Spirit World could be fully relegated to next Book and we’ll get an Empire Strikes Back ending here.

I want your version.

Hi!

I’ve been getting e-mails by those of you who are not iTunes users and who do not want to go through the trouble of downloading the MP3 via Soundcloud and loading it onto your mobile device.

And I guess you would also like not to sit at your computer on Sundays and listen to us, which is your prerogative (I wouldn’t want to either)!

So if you look to the menu on the left, you’ll notice

RSS FEEDS!

has been added.

Click that and it will link you to our Tumblr RSS (for all your posting needs) and our Soundcloud RSS (audio only) and a direct link to our iTunes RSS (also audio only but also includes iTunes specific tagging in addition to normal XML tagging).

Look, I just don’t like Feedburner, alright? : )

Thanks for making the effort up until now, hopefully this makes things go smoother.

-Da7e-

You guys said that Asami might get out of Team Avatar because she’s not in the preview. But actually she is, when Mako is looking through the telescope, she’s behind him :)

Whew!

Yay Asami!

But I’m still iffy on watching that teaser too many times. There’s a whole ‘nother episode between here and there.

Hopefully it’s not 24 minutes about making a giant Amon mask to put on the Aang statue. It must take a long time to make those things without any Earth Bending.

-Da7e-

wait they’re having episode 10 the 16th? i thought they said one hour finale special on the 23rd?

Correct. Book One: Air is 12 total episodes.

Episodes 1&2 were aired at the same time and episodes 11&12 will be aired on the 23rd as a one-hour block.

Episode 10 happens this Saturday.

Korra and Mako by FlyingRabbitMonkey

just another thing about the most recent podcast. First of all, Tahno was a waterbender, not a firebender. secondly, this was stressed within the first two episodes, and a bit in the original avatar series, but being the avatar is not entirely about bending all the elements, but it’s main job is to be a bridge between the physical and spiritual world and keep balance. since the avatar has such a spiritual connection, Amon stealing the bending would still not make him the avatar.

We agree there was some oversight this Sunday morning when we all tried to remember things about Tahno. : )

HOWEVER – “balance” and “Equal” are similar ideas and Korra isn’t connected to the Spirit World at all like Amon keeps claiming that he is (or was, or was given power by), so if Amon is some sort of Evil Avatar, the decision he’s made that we’ve labeled “Evil” is that the best way to bring balance to the world is to make everyone the same and take away these random super-powers that have invaded the world.

You are correct that the Avatar is not about bending, especially as we’re seeing more diversified bending run rampant while no one talks about the spiritual world.

Where the Evil Avatar theory still stands in my mind is in the thought that bringing balance to the world could be getting everyone to get along (like Aang did) OR taking away everyone’s bending. They would both bring balance, just not a peaceful balance.

Then again, Kyoshi was a very aggressive Avatar, so I think the whole “Good” and “Evil” labels are fairly Aang centric. Roku and Kyoshi both saw a lot of violence in their time, even if Roku was trying to turn a blind eye to it, he could have prevented 100 years of war by killing his friend. He just didn’t.

But it would have stopped the Fire Nation before Ozai was born, and is it a failure of the Avatar to allow the world to become that unbalanced because of a personal decision?

I’m sure we’re in the “bending is good” camp, but that’s only because we’ve spent the most time with good benders. If Amon’s story is true and the Sato story is true, and the Mako/Bolin orphan story is true, I think it’s pretty reasonable to have the opinion that the world would be better without bending.

I don’t empathize, I sympathize.
