I have no idea why it took me so long to recognize the voice, but you’re absolutely right. With all the backstory sequences, it finally dawned on me that Yakone is voiced the beyond-talented Clancy Brown!

He previously voiced Long Feng in A:TLA and was also the guy behind one of my favorite animated villains: Lex Luthor. Brown was also on another of my favorite shows of all time, HBO’s Carnivàle. He’s a great character/voice actor and I think we saw the true extent of his talents in today’s finale. Hope there’s room for him in Book 2 (as a new character, of course).

Ahahahahaha. Sorry. I’m wading through the Tumblr madness and this made me LOL.
It IS madness though.
THIS WAS ON MY FREAKING TELEVISION WHEN KORRA SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON

The hour long finale of THE LEGEND OF KORRA, BOOK ONE: AIR deserves a massive talkback.
HERE WE GO!
I’m holding out hope for PabuTar. : )

KORRA BOOK 1 FINALE TOMORROW 11:00 AM!
But I am guessing (hoping…?) you knew that already. Joaquim had a cool idea to do a little group illustration to celebrate Book 1 and thank you, the fans, for all of your support and enthusiasm since the announcement of Korra up until now. Mike, Joaquim, Ryu, Lauren, Colin, Ian, and I all “jammed” on it. We hope you guys like it, and we hope you enjoy the finale! And if you don’t, well… there’s always Book 2, eh?
I’m headed to a casual Book 1 wrap party/finale screening right now. I leave you to unravel the riddle of Ryu’s head-scratcher, “Not enough yet! We are still hungry for your clap.”
Love,
Bryan
Iroh’s arrived.
Maybe. It’s a bit unclear. Granted we haven’t seen Amon and the Equalists go after civilians like Tarrlock, but we did see lots of airships, and mech tanks, and they put an Amon mask on the Aang statue, so stuff is going down that we’re not seeing.
It IS a little odd to me that Amon hasn’t revealed more about what happens after everyone is equal, which makes me think there’s more plan up his sleeve.
Or sleeves. Maybe he needs more room for plan.

Want to see an AMAZING “KOH IS AMON” fan-made mini-comic? YEAH YOU DO! CLICK this page:
I agree that Korra needs to learn airbending. And since that’s the title of this season, I’d expect some being of the leaf in the next two episodes.
-Da7e-
Don’t be angry! He’s not romantically indecisive, he’s just drawn that way.
-Da7e-

That’s okay! It’s still happy!
-Da7e-
It would make more sense if he’s just blocking a chakra. And maybe that’s what it will end up being. On the other hand, didn’t Tahno say he’d been to every healer in Republic City? Did everyone forget about chakras, or is what Amon doing more like energy bending?
Hopefully we’re close to some answers.
-Da7e-

Someone said to me (maybe here) that Amon is only in this season. Which kind of makes me sad, because he’s kind of growing on me too. At least until I know more of his eeeeeeevil plan.
-Da7e-

Our buddies over at VYou got the hook up. Mike & Bryan are answering fan submitted questions leading up to the finale. All you have to do is submit them and you can see the guys answering in video form! As many Pabu questions as possible, please.

I like the idea of the Avatar State being an automatic protection device, but it also seemed like A:TLA suggested it could be triggered by being hyper-emotional (specifically, I just re-watched The Ember Island Players and Aang metions being so upset he should be in the Avatar State).
It seems like Korra is pretty emotionally volatile, but hasn’t entered the Avatar State that we know of (but hasn’t really been that close to death either).
Aang was able to Avatar State pretty early on despite not having mastered all four elements OR his chakras. He may not have been able to control it, but he was able to do it. Korra seems incapable.
But, if you had to ask me, the flashbacks were saying SOMETHING about the Avatar State or Eneergy Bending and we only got the surface message.
-Da7e-

Yeah the eye to power connection hasn’t been working out so well. Which I’m fine with. It’d be no fun if you were constantly depending on people’s eyes to discover their powers.
Green eyes, though, that sounds serious.
-Da7e-
I agree that the love triangle feels a little hamfisted, but I’d rather it be hamfisted and present than dominating.
That being said, I don’t think Mako has chosen Asami over Korra, I don’t think Mako has decided much at all. And why do we need him too? Republic City is at war!
Don’t worry, everyone, I have a feeling that Mako’s dating choices will be simplified in the next 3 episodes of Korra. Even if that third episode is over a year from now.
-Da7e-

I have as much of a “last word” on Kim Kardashian as anyone on Tumblr has on Mako.
Which is to say none.
But I do have opinions, yes I do.
-Da7e-

I know not to get involved in spirited fan debates that somehow turn into battles about the intimate thoughts of characters that are part of a larger narrative mostly uninterested in the intimate thoughts of those characters.
Mako’s in a pinch, he just tried to do the right thing by his brother and himself. Sure he was a dick about it, but – guys – we have such a proclivity for being dicks in that age group.
Hormones and being a teenager are horrible, horrible things. Perhaps this is something some of you are dealing with right now.
If I held other people responsible for fictional character’s actions, I’d be pretty pissed at any blonde-haired, blue-eyed Lannister looking folk. I’d confuse Christina Hendricks with Joan and get mad at her IRL husband for letting her prostitute herself, I’d have been against Zuko for not believing Peter Pan had really come back to save his children from Captain Hook.
Passions running high means that the series is connecting with people, which is a good sign. I just suggest paying very close attention to what our individual output is into the world. Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, these things are isolating because we’re sitting in front of a screen broadcasting our thoughts. BUT – they are communities and wishing death/harm upon a character or those character’s supporters because of something that’s NOT in the show is critically irresponsible and morally reprehensible.
I’m not a sports fan, but I posit a lot of sports fans know what the appropriate line is. I’ve been in many a stadium and a few bars where people that are enemies while they’re enjoying their sport find a love/hate mid-ground that manages to find commonality in something, even if that something is mutual dislike of a third party.
That was a bunch of long sentences. Let’s just all agree while Kim Kardashian is out there being a waste of human genetic material and failing to contribute to society as a whole, there are more important things to champion than valid interpretations of a piece of art we all love and love to discuss.
