And Empire: Literally the Super Bowl for African American Women?

This week, Katey, Da7e, David and Patches respond to and debate around Devin Faraci’s BadAssDigest.com post “What Are ‘The Movies’ Anyway?”. With television and internet video as prevalent and accessible as it is, what place does defining a “feature film” have any  more? What will “the movies” look like in 50 years? Also, Patches saw Sleepless in Seattle for the first time and shrugs it off as Katey fights for it’s romance and Empire takes Fox by storm

HOVER BOOTS!

This week, Patches, Katey, and David embark on a cross-universe journey in search of the Earth’s rightful owner. Hover boots are worn, giant lizards are fought, and half-elephant/half-man people are admired. Yes, we’re talking Jupiter Ascending, the latest from the Wachowskis. Is it the next Matrix or the next Battlefield Earth? That and brief gushing over the Magic Mike XXL trailer on this week’s FITWR review episode.

Should the Oscars Be in January?

This week, Katey, Da7e, and Patches are subject to a brisk Ehrlich discussion about Sundance and what it all means. first, a tidbit about the festival and it’s changing perception. Is the old promise of Sundance preserved in virtual reality filmmaking and Sundance Next? Then, a brief interlude to discuss if the Oscars should be in January, because David can’t believe we’re talking about stuff like American Sniper still after Sundance. Then, David saw Jupiter Ascending at Sundance, and he can’t review it, but wants to talk about how original science fiction films might be doomed.

With returning guest Jordan Hoffman!

This week, Kate and Da7e stay in the War Room to talk about what interests them. Katey avoided a massive blizzard and watched the SAG Awards and Dave is reading a book that compares and contrasts Universal Theme Parks against Disney Theme Parks. It’s an alternate theater discussion and we also wonder if it’s time to end live award shows. THEN – the main event! David and Patches have been at Sundance with The Guardian‘s Jordan Hoffman and bring us a lengthy and detailed report!
