68 – If Star Wars Was Streaming, Why Go Anywhere Anymore?
| 22. April, 2015

And why the answer might be film festivals.

This week, Katey, Da7e, David and Patches are coming off that week with the Star Wars trailer. OK, Patches isn’t watching any Star Wars publicity, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t everywhere. Katey, Patches and David go to Tribecca Film Festival and only physically share the same space during a George Lucas event. Is this the year we finally deem Tribecca worthy? Then, Katey think she’s knows about Harrison Ford’s comeback because she’s seen Age of Adeline. Finally, with things increasingly made available in live stream, VOD or on the, is it worth going anywhere anymore? The answer is yes, but the scope might be narrower than you think.

And their villains are uninteresting

This week, Katey, Da7e, and Patches are at the whims of THE EHRLICH, who thinks we talk about superhero movies too much online, on social media and in publications. He wants to discuss why and not so much the upcoming superhero films. Then, on a stay-cation with his girlfriend, David enjoys Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsmen: The Secret Service twice. Finally, why are all these mainstream blockbuster movies populated by uninteresting villains?

REVIEW – Ex Machina
| 11. April, 2015

ex-machina-feat

With returning guest Jordan Hoffman!

This week, Katey, David, and Patches summon Guardian and New York Daily News film critic Jordan Hoffman to conduct a Turing Test, to see they really have the brains for this sorta thing. The results are debatable. But, hey, at least this review of Ex Machina is fun! That, a discussion on Clouds of Sils Maria, and your answers to this week’s foreign actor-themed lightning round question on this week’s review episode.

Take a listen, embed and/or download below; for more from all of us on Twitter: follow the show (@FITWR), Katey (@kateyrich), Patches (@misterpatches) and David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner). Follow special guest Jordan Hoffman at @jhoffman

66 – It’s ‘Always’ a Mad Mad Mad Men World

And our wants for Game of Thrones

This week, Katey, Da7e and THE EHRLICH are at the whims of astral dog Patches, who watched Steven Spielberg’s Always recently and wants to talk about this oft-forgotten entry in the Spielberg canon. After putting out those fires, Patches wants out ghosts to whisper in his ear the future of Game of Thrones Season 5 (no real spoilers). Then, Patches has also somehow watched Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 and thinks it’s obviously influenced Mad Men. There is no better excuse for the four hosts to talk about cinematic influences to AMC’s ending drama, so they do. They do.
