Two Women and a Guy Talk Boob Tube. He’s The Boob.

This week, with David and Patches hogging all the good movies in Toronto, Katey Rich summons Da7e and Joanna to fill her in on what she needs to know about the Fall TV Season before she takes off on her honeymoon. Joanna is well educated on the new shows worth watching and has some good advice on watching Boardwalk Empire. Da7e is on hand to go over the three superhero shows making their debut and joins Katey in Black-ish curiosity. No one mentions Selfie.

Randall Canadian Flagg

This week, Patches and David have decamped to the Toronto International Film Festival and bring us a Segment 3 report through droopy, tired eyes. Back in the War Room, Katey, Joanna and Da7e discuss Katey’s revisiting Stephen King’s The Stand and it’s troubled road to a film adaptation. Also, each of the three picks a young actor they wish would get to show more range. All that plus a pitiful Lighting Round question.

Plus David Ehrlich’s Summer Trivia Corner

This week, David, Patches, Joanna and a returning Da7e have got that summertime sadness, oh-whoa-ho-ho-ho. Starting things off with a Lighting Round question about anticipated fall films, it’s a step back into the “worst summer since 1997” for the American Box Office. Are things really that bad? Then, David’s in charge of a summer movie trivia mini-segment before we make a Johnny Gossamer connection between Pascale Ferran’s Bird People and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It’s subtle special effects and they’re a tool worth mentioning.

Plus Starred Up

This week, Katey, David, Patches, and Joanna head down to indie territory to review two movies that divided: Starred Up, the prison drama starring up-and-comer Jack O’Connell and God Help the Girl, a whimsical musical from Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch. What do these movies get right and wrong about youth? That and your answers to this week’s lightning round on 20-year-old movies that need the IMAX treatment, on this week’s review episode.
