Reviews – The Sexiest Reviews of Awkward Moment and Labor Day You Will Hear Today
| 31. January, 2014

With Special Guest Amy Nicholson!

This week, David and Patches make a pack never to take dates to That Awkward Moment, the new bro comedy produced by and starring the comedic wunderkind Zac Efron. Then we wrangle Amy Nicholson of L.A. Weekly to help us bake a peach pie/make things a little steamier when we review Labor Day, the new film from Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman. We’d say who wrote the book it’s adapted from, but she might come after us when we start picking the movie apart.

Review – I, Frankenstein Surprisingly Not Really About Frankenstein’s Monster
| 24. January, 2014

With electrifying guest Perri Nemiroff

While the Katey, Patches and David cats are away, the Da7e mouse plays by reviewing this year’s ridiculpus sci-fi/fantasy January release. Not since the days of Contraband has Da7e needed to bring the hammer down on a film in such a way, as it’s revealed I, Frankenstein is actually more about the design of Gargoyles and Demons more than the story of a self-actualizing monster. To help the Da7e monster self-actualize, he brought in returning guest Perri Nemiroff so he wouldn’t be shouting alone, into a void

Don’t Ask Siri…

This week, Katey and David call Patches in Utah to tell him they’ve fallen in love with their operating systems and have various opinions about how good or bad that is for them. Do Joaquin Phoenix and Spike Jonze have something convincing and touching to say about technology and relationships or does David just want to squash this film like a bug?

Review – Pill-Poppin’ ‘nd Truth-Tellin’ With August Osage County
| 10. January, 2014

REVIEW_GRAPHIC

Though this movie and this episode are family affairs, this podcast has no A-List casting. But – Bonus! – also no mouth cancer.

If you thought Fighting in the War room was a raucous maelstrom of razor-sharp opinions, wait until you meet the family from August: Osage County. At least, that’s what the filmmakers and performers behind August: Osage County would like you to think (we might still be the crazier bunch).
This week, Katey, Patches, and David assemble around the  dinner table to throw down over the adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Can it be enjoyed as an expensive game of dress-up or do we have to care about these characters at some point? Will Katey eat her fucking fish? Find out as we review August: Osage County.

Take a listen, embed and/or download below; for more from all of us: follow the show (@FITWR), David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner), Patches (@misterpatches) and Katey (@kateyrich) on Twitter.
