STAR WARS SPECIAL – Episode 4: Tell That to Kanjiklub
| 14. January, 2016

FITWRSWS

What we've learned about the universe since The Force Awakens

The Fighting In The War Room podcast family acknowledges that Star Wars Mania is here to stay now that Disney-purchased Lucasfilm plans to spin the saga and anthology movies out into the foreseeable future. It's time to fight in the galactic war room for the foreseeable future! We'll never see STAR PEACE.

In the fourth Star Wars Special, Joanna Robinson, Neil Miller and Da7e start by digging into the various nuggets cast, crew, novelizations and screenplays have bestowed upon how we view The Force Awakens. Then, after a brief discussion on if Star Wars can overtake Avatar at the global box office (and an aside about HBO's Girls for some reason), the team dig deep into what we know about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and  the Han Solo anthology movie. Each host begrugingly picks an actor off the short list to play Han and Da7e tries to convince the other hosts that this may not be horrible. Finally, Da7e vomits up absolutely everything he's heard about Rogue One, just for good measure.

Then, the conversation devolves into everyone asking specific  questions about The Force Awakens with each other. You know, the thing you and your friends have been doing since you saw the movie anyway.

I find your lack of SPOILER faith disturbing! – Spoiler discussion starts at 22:40

R.I.P. David Bowie

This week, Katey, Patches and Da7e have recovered David to give their reactions to the 73rd Annual Golden Globes, the maybe-doesn’t-matter awards presentation put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press. Also, Katey is wondering if maybe the dumping ground of January has shortened itself and all four hosts mourn the passing of David Bowie.

Review – The Hateful Eight 70mm Roadshow
| 9. January, 2016

Nobody wins.

This week, Katey, Patches, Da7e and Joanna all traveled to real theaters to see an Ultra Panavision 70 movie shot and projected on honest-to-God celluloid: The Hateful Eight 70mm Roadshow.  Quentin Tarantino’s latest is a Western potboiler in two acts with a bunch of characters who are trapped together in a snowstorm inside Minnie’s Haberdashery. Join our hosts as they debate if this movie is actually about anything and if the lush projection added or detracted from the dialogue-heavy film.

With returning host Joanna Robinson!

This week, Katey, Patches and Da7e have swapped out a David for often requested podcast co-host Joanna Robinson!

First, Patches and Joanna discuss MTV’s new (and crazy sounding) fantasy adaptation, The Shannara Chronicles. Is the duo sold on the concept? Can they convince Da7e or Katey to tune in? Then, Patches wants everyone’s opinion on Green Day’s concept album American Idiot which he rediscovered over the holiday. Finally, what DID everyone do over the holiday anyway? Answers range from the expected books, television and then into the more unexpected.
