This podcast: EVERYONE DIES!

This week, Katey, Da7e, and Patches have come to you from the past. This last Tuesday as a matter of fact, to let you know their thoughts on Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise he brought so much attention to: X-Men: Days of Future Past. They struggle to describe the intricacies of a plot that doesn’t have a lot of stakes, praise a few sequences for delivering on the promise of the characters, then delve into a spoiler section (with ample warning!) to talk about the crazy ending to the movie. That plus your lighting round answers about film duos you’d like to see in better movies.

Plus The Godzilla Legacy and 2014 Top Movie Trivia

This week, Da7e returns and demands everyone spend a few more minutes talking about Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and how it fits into the grander tradition of Godzilla movies now that we know there will be a sequel. Then, Katey has devised a round of trivia comprised of quotes from the Top 20 Box Office hits of 2014. You’ll be surprised what’s made it up there. Finally, all four hosts discuss binge watching and how it’s transformed our view. That plus a lighting round question about dream duos that have duo’d poorly in the past.

RRRRRAAAAAARRRRRNNNNGHHHH!

This week, Katey, David, and Patches awake from hibernation to attack the latest reboot of the Godzilla franchise. After the blunder of Roland Emmerich’s 1998 Godzilla, is there any way to breath atomic life back into this 60 year old character? Monsters director Gareth Edwards answers that question with his leap into mega-budgeted summer blockbuster territory — and our trio is ready to rumble. That, a lightning round on the TV actor or actress you want to see bump up to movie stardom, and more on this week’s Fighting in the War Room review.

022 – We Don’t Know About You, But We’re Feeling Disaster Blockbusters In Our Dark Souls
| 13. May, 2014

EPISODE_GRAPHIC2

The human level of blockbusters and video games.

This week, no one played Reigns of Catsamere at Katey’s wedding, so she’s back in the hot seat, Da7e’s hot-seat, since that guy isn’t around. David probes Dark Souls the video game along with his own dark soul to discover what – if anything – the co-op system has in common with movies. The group picks their favorite post-Jurassic Park summer movies before delving into a conversation on whether summer blockbusters really need characters. Do half-baked pawns stand in the way of true spectacle?
