| 11. April, 2015

ex-machina-feat

With returning guest Jordan Hoffman!

This week, Katey, David, and Patches summon Guardian and New York Daily News film critic Jordan Hoffman to conduct a Turing Test, to see they really have the brains for this sorta thing. The results are debatable. But, hey, at least this review of Ex Machina is fun! That, a discussion on Clouds of Sils Maria, and your answers to this week’s foreign actor-themed lightning round question on this week’s review episode.

66 – It’s ‘Always’ a Mad Mad Mad Men World
| 7. April, 2015

I-love-9to5

And our wants for Game of Thrones

This week, Katey, Da7e and THE EHRLICH are at the whims of astral dog Patches, who watched Steven Spielberg’s Always recently and wants to talk about this oft-forgotten entry in the Spielberg canon. After putting out those fires, Patches wants out ghosts to whisper in his ear the future of Game of Thrones Season 5 (no real spoilers). Then, Patches has also somehow watched Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 and thinks it’s obviously influenced Mad Men. There is no better excuse for the four hosts to talk about cinematic influences to AMC’s ending drama, so they do. They do.

Follow the show (@FITWR), Katey (@kateyrich)  Patches (@misterpatches), Da7e (@da7e) and David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner).

Serena with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence

And some Get Hard

This week Katey and Patches journey to the wild mountains of western North Carolina in search of timber fortunes, beautiful 1930s hairdos, and a falcon that lands on your wrist. Can they solve the mystery of how a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper went straight to VOD? Find out as they review Susanne Bier’s Serena, try and fail to avoid talking about Get Hard, and choose your answers to our lightning round question about comedies that deal with race or class.
