Spotlight-Image-1

Circling back to Spotlight and listening to critic's circles

This week, the podcasters have lost Da7e to a galaxy far, far away, so Katey, Patches and David talk about the "Best of" lists that have been released thus far and if they have captured 2015's year in movies. Then, Patches has an odd question for the other two hosts before all three circle back to talk about the currently-in-release journalism movie Spotlight from director Thomas McCarthy. That, plus a Lightning Round question about celebrity cameos.

Really good or the best?

This week, Katey, David, Patches and Da7e convene to talk about what is most likely David Ehrlich's number one movie of the year: Carol. The Todd Haynes directed lesbian love story is set in the 1950s and features Rooney Mara meeting Cate Blanchett's Carol. You seen the tweets, now hear the review.

Plus Indie Spirits and Transparent Returns to Amazon.

This week, the podcasters have lost David to what they can only assume is Carol-related madness. Katey, Patches and Da7e kick off the final month in the Year of Our Time Lord Dr. Emmett Brown by discussing the Independent Spirit Award nominees that came out this week and how they have instilled Da7e with a fear that he hasn't seen enough movies. Then, Katey gives big props to Amazon's second season of Transparent that you can watch this weekend. Finally, the trio talk about the year of 2015 flops inspired by Victor Frankenstein and Jem and the Holograms. Why did so many movies this year not work?
