We have another movie we adore to discuss this week! Writer\/director Tamara Jenkins has long gaps between films, but has nevertheless delivered an all-killer-no-filler lineup, beginning in the late 1990s with Slums of Beverly Hills<\/i> and returning a decade later with the Oscar-nominated The Savages<\/i>. Her next film another<\/i> decade later, Private Life<\/i>, starred Kathryn Hahn and Paul Giamatti as New York creatives going through every hurdle to have a baby, including considering their adrift niece (played by Kayli Carter) as a surrogate. The film was a part of Netflix\u2019s awards slate, but didn\u2019t receive nearly the push as some of the streamer\u2019s other films in their awards slate, but we will always eagerly await the next Tamara Jenkins project.<\/p>\n
This episode, we talk about Kathryn Hahn\u2019s formidable career of praised (and sometimes undersign) television performances, and the culmination of appreciation for the actress around WandaVision<\/i>. We also discuss Giamatti\u2019s \u201cshady record exec\u201d period, Netflix\u2019s emergence as an awards player, and Hahn\u2019s appearance in the THR Actress Roundtable and swooning for Rachel Weisz.<\/p>\n
