| 20. April, 2016

We’re alive, dammit.

This week, Katey, Patches, Da7e and David pour over the second season of Netflix’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and its reception. Then, David is on the ground at the Tribecca Film Festival 2016 and has some quick hits from the ongoing fest. Finally, the success of The Jungle Book has the gang looping around to ponder a post-human world of computer generated images.

There are no small parts, just small…whatever.

This week, David Ehrlich takes a sudden vacation to switch jobs, so Katey, Patches and Da7e have run of the war room. After a review that asks for fewer political opinions, the group unwisely decides to talk about the Tribecca Film Festival scheduling the anti-vaccination documentary Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe then pulling it from the schedule after public uproar. Then, Batman V. Superman made a lot of money at the box office…so just like 10 Cloverfield Lane, we have to stop and wonder what that means. Finally, Wonder Woman’s brief appearance in Dawn of Justice prompts us to talk about our favorite movie roles that don’t take up a lot of screen time.

68 – If Star Wars Was Streaming, Why Go Anywhere Anymore?

And why the answer might be film festivals.

This week, Katey, Da7e, David and Patches are coming off that week with the Star Wars trailer. OK, Patches isn’t watching any Star Wars publicity, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t everywhere. Katey, Patches and David go to Tribecca Film Festival and only physically share the same space during a George Lucas event. Is this the year we finally deem Tribecca worthy? Then, Katey think she’s knows about Harrison Ford’s comeback because she’s seen Age of Adeline. Finally, with things increasingly made available in live stream, VOD or on the, is it worth going anywhere anymore? The answer is yes, but the scope might be narrower than you think.

Follow the show (@FITWR), Katey (@kateyrich)  Patches (@misterpatches), Da7e (@da7e) and David (@davidehrlich or @CriterionCorner).
