Katey has disappeared to prepare for Oscar coverage, so Da7e, Patches and David strike up another Brocast. First, With Gods of Egypt coming to theaters this week, Patches wants to ask: “Alex Proyas: good director?” Then, David catches Patches and Da7e up on China’s newest theatrical sensation The Mermaid. Finally, the trio talk about some of the backlash recently against The Witch (which we discussed last episode) and debate the semantics of “scary” when it comes to horror film.

While the Katey, Patches and David cats are away, the Da7e mouse plays by reviewing this year’s ridiculpus sci-fi/fantasy January release. Not since the days of Contraband has Da7e needed to bring the hammer down on a film in such a way, as it’s revealed I, Frankenstein is actually more about the design of Gargoyles and Demons more than the story of a self-actualizing monster. To help the Da7e monster self-actualize, he brought in returning guest Perri Nemiroff so he wouldn’t be shouting alone, into a void
