177 – Dark Tower, Columbus, 2017 Summer In Review!

The_Dark_Tower.0

This week, Patches, Katey, and Da7e manage to hold on to David Ehrlich for half the podcast as Da7e and Patches wonder what went wrong with The Dark Tower single film adaptation, and David begins to pitch everyone on Columbus, a charming indie that's coming out. Then, technical difficulties fell David mid-description and the remaining 3 hosts have to soldier on to discuss just how good this Summer Movie Season has been to us.

Class Warfare For Your Eyes and Ears

This week, Katey is in Los Angeles, so  David, Da7e and Patches take the week to talk about class warfare on screen though mini-reviewing The Purge: Anarchy, recommend a movie that went underseen this year, then dive into the future of blockbuster movie scores, which all 3 agree are usually bland. All that plus a Lighting Round question about horrible titles that were attached to otherwise good movies.

022 – We Don’t Know About You, But We’re Feeling Disaster Blockbusters In Our Dark Souls

EPISODE_GRAPHIC2

The human level of blockbusters and video games.

This week, no one played Reigns of Catsamere at Katey’s wedding, so she’s back in the hot seat, Da7e’s hot-seat, since that guy isn’t around. David probes Dark Souls the video game along with his own dark soul to discover what – if anything – the co-op system has in common with movies. The group picks their favorite post-Jurassic Park summer movies before delving into a conversation on whether summer blockbusters really need characters. Do half-baked pawns stand in the way of true spectacle?
